language curriculum design: analyzing and evaluating the syllabi of teaching persian to non-persian speakers based on the nation and macalister model

چکیده

a curriculum deals with all the aspects of language learning including experience and purpose of learning, evaluation, and teacher-student relationship. an accurately planned curriculum for instruction can basically guarantee the success of an educational course. the present study is aimed at introducing nation & macalister language curriculum design (2010). doing so, the stages and principles for designing a language curriculum were explained and then the extent to which the principles are employed in the curriculum of persian in language center of imam khomeini international university was analyzed. to do so, 20 principles of nation and macalister language curriculum were implemented in the form of three questionnaires (including teacher, learner and researcher). applicants included 15 persian teachers and 64 learners studying in pre-university at the persian language center. receiving the data from learners and teachers, the questionnaires were analyzed with regard to the content of advanced level. findings showed that the curriculum of persian language center met all principles of nation and macalister design except frequency, keep moving forward, and teachability.
